After each session, your speech transcript and metrics (speaking rate, pitch variance, filler word count, and pacing) are sent to Claude AI (Anthropic). Claude analyzes your response against the prompt and coaching tips, then returns a score and written feedback. Pro subscribers also receive a vocal tone score powered by Hume AI, which analyzes confidence, nervousness, and enthusiasm in your voice. All scores are for practice purposes only.
Pro unlocks four things: all 11 practice modes (the free tier includes Job Interview, Daily Convo, Impromptu, Explain a Topic, and Networking; Pro adds Pitch, Keynote, Debate, Storytelling, Negotiation, and Real Life), difficulty levels 7–10 (Advanced and Expert), vocal emotion analysis via Hume AI (your audio is analyzed for tone dimensions like confidence, nervousness, and enthusiasm), and unlimited daily sessions. Real Life mode is Pro-only and lets you describe an actual conversation you're about to have. The AI then rewrites it as a coaching prompt with focus areas tailored to your scenario. Free users can complete up to 2 sessions per day and receive full text-based AI coaching. Pro is $4.99/month.
You can browse practice prompts and review past sessions offline. Generating AI feedback requires an internet connection: your transcript is sent to our AI providers once per completed session. If you're offline when a session ends, the app will retry when connectivity is restored.
Parlance records your voice during practice sessions to generate a transcript and measure speech metrics (rate, pauses, filler words). Free users' audio is transcribed on-device and never uploaded. Pro subscribers' audio is briefly sent to Hume AI for vocal tone analysis, then discarded. It is not stored on any server.
Complete at least one practice session per day to maintain your streak. Streaks reset at midnight in your local timezone if you miss a day. Your streak count is stored locally on your device and is not synced across devices or backed up to a server.
No. Audio recordings are deleted from your device immediately after processing. For free users, transcription happens on-device and no audio ever leaves your phone. For Pro subscribers, audio is sent to Hume AI solely for real-time tone analysis and is not retained by them under our agreement. Note that your session scores and stats (not audio or transcripts) are synced to our servers to power the weekly league. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
There are two separate actions depending on what you want to delete:
Delete your account, Go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes your account, profile, stats, and friend connections from our servers. This is immediate and irreversible.
Delete local data only, Go to Profile → Settings → Reset All Data. This deletes your session history, transcripts, XP, achievements, and preferences from your device only. Your account on our servers is unaffected.

Try force-quitting and relaunching the app. If the issue persists, check your internet connection, as AI feedback requires connectivity. If the problem continues after restarting, email us at parlance.app@gmail.com with your device model and iOS version and we'll look into it.
